Owl sounds for kids

SaysHoo-hoo

What sound does an owl make?

An owl hoots: hoo-hoo! Owls are busy at night, so that is when you hear them. The famous “twit-twoo” is really two tawny owls talking: one calls “twit” and another answers “twoo”. Not every owl hoots, though; barn owls make a long, hissing screech.

Try it together

Turn the lights down low, make round owl eyes with your fingers and hoot softly to each other.

One animal, drawn three ways

Every card in Kidster comes in three styles. Some children love the cartoon, others recognise the real animal sooner. A parent picks the style in the Parent Zone, and the sound stays the same.
